Bon Voyage! Gift Ideas to Make Every Cruise Memorable
Since we’re in the “cruise industry”, we’re frequently asked about good gift ideas for people who love cruises. In fact, we’re asked so often, that we came up with a list of some of our favorite things that make a great gift for both new and experienced cruisers.
Sea Sickness Bands
For people who are prone to seasickness, a Relief Band makes a great gift! We’ve used them on rough transatlantic cruises and they really help with nausea! There are a few models available but all work the same. The only difference between the various Relief Bands are style and how long the battery lasts. They can be purchased directly from Relief Band or on Amazon.
A Cruise Map
A Cruise Map is a unique gift and a great way for cruisers to have a tangible memory of their amazing trip! By visiting The Cruise Maps website, you can quickly find the voyage, customize the map, and have it delivered to someone as a piece of art representing their complete itinerary. What a clever idea!
Universal Plug Adapter
Many cruisers don’t realize that cabins usually have power outlets from several countries (mainly USA & EU outlets). With every device needing to be charged these days, power outlets are a precious commodity! Give the cruiser in your life one of these universal adapters so no power outlet goes unused.
A Cruise Journal
You’d never think in this day and age of tablets and all things digital that Journaling was actually still a popular hobby. But it is! In fact, the demographic that enjoys going on a cruise often loves keeping memories in a travel journal. I’m always surprised by how many people I see writing in their journals and saving little mementos from their days in port. It’s a great way to keep the trip memories and also gives a cruiser something to do on sea days. A cruise-themed journal makes a great gift!
Motion Activated Cabin Lights
A nifty gift that any cruiser can make use of is these handy motion-activated lights. Cruise cabins, especially interior staterooms, are incredibly dark at night. These magnetic lights help guide the way to the bathroom and help keep toes from being destroyed on furniture in an unfamiliar space. These cruise cabin lights are compact and barely weigh anything.
Excursion Bag
First-time cruisers never think about bringing a small bag to take with them off the ship while in port! A great gift for that first-time cruise passenger is a small over-the-shoulder or cross-body bag for the little necessities while in port. We’ve tried so many of these bags but prefer slightly larger ones that hold a water bottle.
A Few More Ideas!
You may not realize that it’s also possible to help someone celebrate a special occasion on board by calling the cruise line and ordering anything from room decorations to a nice bottle of wine or even flowers. You generally just need to know the passenger name and sailing date, the cruise line will happily help you select a gift and bill you for the cost. It’s a great surprise for when someone arrives to their cabin!
Another great idea is to buy an excursion from a third-party company for a port day (assuming the passenger doesn’t have plans). Get a city walking tour or a food tour as a gift from Viator.com or GetYourGuide.com!
